We’re Mete and I. Our story began at Stillman College in August 1995. Today, we share our travels, our love of cocktails, and our passion for supporting Black-owned spirits.

Why do Black Spirits Matter?

We live in a time when Black history is being overlooked and erased. The Black-owned brands featured in Vol. 1 are making history, yet many aren’t receiving the recognition or spotlight they deserve.

We’re not asking you to stop buying your favorite mainstream brands. We want you to know about the Black-owned alternatives in the marketplace. For some of these brands, getting shelf space is a challenge, and you can’t support what you don’t know exists.

Simple Sips gives these brands a place to be seen, their stories a place to be heard, and you a chance to discover something new. This is our history. Cheers to the culture.

Why did we write a book and keep the cocktails simple?

Because we know people enjoy a good cocktail from time to time, and making one at home should feel affordable and easy. After a long day at work, you may not have the time or energy to run to the store for a long list of ingredients.

We created Vol. 1 around approachable recipes with simple ingredients, including things you may already have at home. Pair them with Black-owned spirit brands, and you can make a great cocktail while discovering the people and stories behind your pour.

Our goal is to help you mix with confidence, enjoy the moment, and bring a little soul to your glass.

What’s included in the bundle?

A hardcover book personally signed by Mete and I, a two-glass set, and a Simple Sips T-shirt. Bundles start at $90 for smaller T-shirt sizes; your final price depends on the size you select in the store.

What glassware designs can I choose?

Simple Sips and Black Spirits Matter. Both styles use clear, lead-free 10 oz rocks glasses with a substantial base.

Are the glasses dishwasher safe?

Yes, the glasses are dishwasher safe.

Can I request a different shirt color or design?

Yes. Email us before ordering if the color or design you want isn’t listed in the store.
